Archaeological Museum of Garfagnana

Set inside the Rocca Ariostesca, the Archaeological Museum of the Territory of Garfagnana presents archaeological finds from the high valley of the Serchio. It consists of two distinct exhibitions: the section relating to the Mesolithic, opened in 1980, shows the results of surface research and excavations that have affected this period of the Stone Age. The section devoted to the Apuan Ligurians, opened in 1984, presents the findings discovered in the Ligurian settlements, explaining the customs and traditions of the Ligurian peoples who inhabited the Garfagnana in the third and second centuries BC, until it was conquered by the Romans.
